Musicians are infinitely better informed than they were even a decade ago. Schools and colleges teach music business law, magazine articles dispense esoteric historical information about instruments that boggles even the minds of the people who made them. And yet, and yet... there are still pitfalls and pratfalls and a constant need for information that addresses the 'what the hell is going on here?' questions that afflict musicians' lives.
Changing technology and shifting legal sands don't help - well, except for we journalists, as a source of work. If articles in this section get outdated by events, I'll remove them. Failing which, I hope they're of use to someone wondering whether he really dares archive his master recordings to DVD, or how to make sure his bass player doesn't steal that perfect, fragile harmony line.
